ABOUT THE GALLERY
Who We Are
CORE Art and Design Gallery cooperates with established and prestigious contemporary Greek artists, as well as, with a very promising, new generation of emerging artists and designers working on a variety of media. Our aim is to introduce, support and promote contemporary Greek artists to a wider international audience, through global exhibitions and events, creating a cross cultural dialogue that dissolves boarders through art and design.
Asimina Georgakopoulou is an art historian and curator based in Athens. Her postgraduate studies are in Art History (Panthéon Sorbonne Paris University). She has also a bachelor in Communication, Media and Culture (Panteion University of Athens) and a Classical Guitar Diploma.
She has participated in several international workshops and exchanges on curating and cultural management (NEON & Whitechapel Gallery Curatorial Exchange, Transforming Future Museums – British Council, etc.)
Her work experience ranges from research and writing to mediation, education and curating. In the past she worked in Athens and Paris galleries, and at Benaki Museum (Athens) where she had various responsibilities (curating the exhibitions, writing texts and press releases). Her experience as art mediator (NEON Organization – 2017, 2021) has stimulated her passion towards practices that promote interaction between artistic creation and the public.
Currently, she collaborates with Core Gallery.
