MARIA GIANNAKAKI
Fine Artist – Painter
Maria Giannakaki was born in Athens in 1958. She studied painting under the supervision of P.Tetsis and mosaic art under the supervision of G. Kolefas at the Athens School of Fine Arts (1977-1982). Under state scholarship, she undertook her postgraduate studies in China (Hangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, 1983-1985) specialising in traditional Chinese painting and calligraphy. Her first solo exhibition took place in Beijing (1986, Beijing Artists’ Gallery). From 1985 till present she has held numerous solo exhibitions and has participated in multiple group exhibitions in Greece, Belgium, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Spain, Sweden, Portugal, Egypt, India, China and others. Her works can be found at Greek museums and private collections in Greece and abroad. As well as painting, she also works in book illustration.
